THREE UP
Brandon Webb made it 8-for-8 with an 8-3 win over the Phillies. Webb tossed his 13th career complete game and is the first to win his first eight starts since Jon Garland for the White Sox in ’05.
Pirates second baseman Freddy Sanchez is taking to the leadoff spot. Sanchez had three more hits in a 5-4 win over the Giants and is 7-for-13 since moving to the top earlier in the week.
Daniel Cabrera tossed a three-hitter with seven strikeouts and one walk in a 4-1 win over the Royals. Cabrera notched his fifth career complete game and snapped a five-game O’s losing streak.
THREE DOWN
After a sizzling April, Kyle Lohse is having an awful May. Lohse was rocked again in a 9-3 loss to the Rockies. He has allowed 15 runs and 17 hits in 10 innings so far in May.
The Brewers stranded 11 runners in a 7-2 loss to the Marlins. The loss was a season-high sixth in a row for the Brewers, who finished the season series 1-5 against the Marlins.
Troy Percival hadn’t allowed a run all season — until Thursday. Percival gave up three in the 9th for his first blown save of the season. His Rays rallied, however, for a 13-inning win over Toronto.
