THREE UP
Carl Crawford hit a three-run homer, stole two bases and scored twice to lead the Rays to an 8-5 victory over the Angels. The win put them five games over .500 for the first time in the club’s 11 seasons.
Brian Bannister gave up just two singles in eight innings as the Royals won 4-0 to end a 12-game skid against the Orioles. Bannister was 0-4 with an 8.02 ERA over his previous four starts.
Catcher Steve Holm hit a go-ahead, two-run homer in the seventh on the first pitch of his first at-bat of the game as the Giants topped the Phillies 4-3. It came off J.C. Romero (0.63 ERA entering).
THREE DOWN
After Dodgers rookie Hiroki Kuroda’s no-hit bid ended in the seventh, Jonathan Broxton turned a 3-1 lead into a 7-3 deficit, blowing his first save while recording just one out in the Astros’ 8-5 win.
The Nationals’ Luis Ayala gave up a pair of homers in the eighth, the second a two-out solo shot to Dan Uggla that put Florida ahead to stay in a 5-4 win that capped a three-game sweep.
Manny Ramirez, 0-for-5 Saturday and with just one homer in his last 19 games, made the final out of a 9-8 loss to the Twins, grounding out to shortstop as a pinch-hitter with a runner on second.
