Vehicle flips, 1 hospitalized

Two people were pulled out of an armored vehicle that flipped over Monday afternoon in the 5200 block of North Elston Avenue, and at least one of them was rushed to a North Side hospital, according to Chicago Fire Department officials. The rollover happened about 2:20 p.m. when the armored vehicle was involved in a collision, authorities said. Chicago police arrived a few minutes later to secure the vehicle’s contents, officials said.

Cop attacked by pit bull

A Chicago police officer was attacked and bitten by a pit bull early Monday as police responded to a domestic dispute at a home on the South Side, authorities said. The incident unfolded about 1:50 a.m., when officers approached a home in the 7900 block of South Kenwood Avenue. The dog suddenly appeared and attacked the officer, said Officer Laura Kubiak.

Taste for the gourmet

Attention, foodies: Chicago plans to use its top chefs to show the world that there’s more to Chicago cuisine than the Taste of Chicago. “Chicago Gourmet,” billed as “a celebration of food and wine,” is expected to feature several of the city’s nationally known chefs when it runs from Sept. 26-28 in Millennium Park. Mayor Daley apparently wants a gourmet version of Taste, one that will show off Chicago as a world-class culinary destination.
