Divorce court
A judge in London granted a preliminary divorce Monday to former Beatle Paul McCartney and Heather Mills. If no one objects, the divorce will be final in six weeks. Mills will emerge from the rancorous divorce with a settlement of $47.5 million but a reputation damaged by her televised outbursts against McCartney.
Birthday girl
It was a belated birthday, but at least Ellen DeGeneres had Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey on hand to celebrate. DeGeneres, who actually turned 50 in January, threw a carnival-themed bash over the weekend, people.com reports. Other star guests included T.R. Knight of “Grey’s Anatomy” and Paris Hilton.
Going to jail
Stone Temple Pilots rocker Scott Weiland (right) has checked into prison, tmz.com reports. Weiland pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor drunken driving charge in April and was sentenced to serve eight days.
