Joe Inglett was hitless in his previous 10 pinch-hitting appearances. He picked up his 1st Thursday and it scored the winning run in the 11th inning in Blue Jays’ 3-2 win over the Twins.
Willie Harris played a major role in the Nationals’ 1-0 victory Thursday. His sparkling diving catch in left field in the ninth prevented an extra base hit and he had a sac bunt that led to the only run.
Lance Berkman hit his ML-leading 15th home run into McCovey Cove in the ninth to give the Astros an 8-7 win over the Giants. He added a two-run single and extended his hitting streak to 14 games.
THREE DOWN
It just gets worse for Jason Isringhausen. The former Cardinals closer gave up a go-ahead, three-run homer to Jason Bay in an 11-5 loss to the Pirates. Isringhausen has an ERA of 8.00.
The Mets had a tough day on the bases in a 1-0 loss. Jose Reyes was out trying to take an extra base on a bunt and Carlos Beltran was doubled off third on a liner to first to end the game.
Every Royal had at least one hit off Kenny Rogers in an 8-4 Tigers loss. Rogers lasted just four innings and gave up seven runs and 11 hits total in the Tigers’ fourth straight loss and 10th in their last 12.
