Ryan Ludwick saved the Cardinals with his second home run of the day, this one coming in the 10th inning of a 9-8 win over the Rays. It was Ludwick’s second two-homer game of the season.
Three weeks after having the majors’ worst record and rumors of Ron Washington being fired, the Rangers are at break-even after winning for the 15th time in their last 21 games, 6-2 over the Astros.
Rod Barajas had a pair of home runs, including a grand slam, and had a career-best five RBIs in the Blue Jays’ 6-3 win over the Phillies. The grand slam, off Adam Eaton, was the third of his career.

After Rafael Betancourt struggled as the Indians’ closer, Masa Kobayashi took over. He didn’t fare any better, giving up a game-winning three-run homer to Adam Dunn in a 4-2 loss to the Reds.
Since going to the NL, interleague play has not suited Tim Hudson. The Braves’ starter fell to 0-9 vs. AL after Saturday’s loss in his first outing vs. the Athletics, the team that traded him in ’04.
Livan Hernandez had a perfect game through five innings against the Rockies. But the Twins’ starter ended up allowing eight hits and three runs in 7 1/3 innings and took the loss.
