City vehicle stickers available online

Chicago vehicle stickers for 2008-09 are now available online, three weeks earlier than in previous years, City Clerk Miguel del Valle said. They can be purchased at chicityclerk.com. Also, residents living in residential zoned parking areas can renew their permits and buy guest passes online. Walk-in sticker sales begin June 2 at City Hall. All current vehicle stickers expire June 30.

Chicago man charged in Evanston bank robbery

A Chicago man has been charged and authorities are seeking other suspects in an Evanston bank robbery last week, police said. Jason Eric Roden, 35, of the 12000 block of South Wallace Street, was charged with aggravated robbery after he and another man allegedly entered the First Bank & Trust at 741 Main St. on Wednesday. Police said the men brandished guns, tied up the employees and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Chicago cab driver dies in N. Side crash

A cab driver apparently suffering from a medical problem died after he crashed his cab into parked cars on a North Side street overnight, police said. The 78-year-old man was alone in his northbound cab in the 2200 block of North Lincoln Avenue when he lost control and careered into southbound lanes, slamming into a parked car around 4 a.m., Officer Marcel Bright said. The driver’s identity was not immediately released.

Museum vote likely to be delayed until June

The Chicago Children’s Museum plan for Grant Park was scheduled for a vote of the City Council’s Zoning Committee on Tuesday morning, but the committee’s chairman said Monday the issue likely will be put off until next month. Ald. William J.P. Banks (36th), said aides to Mayor Daley told him that several members of his committee will not be able to make it to the meeting at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
