THREE UP

Alex Rodriguez is set to rejoin the Yankees on Tuesday after finishing his rehabilitation of a strained right quadriceps. “I’m excited to get back into Yankee Stadium,” said Rodriguez, sidelined since April 28.

Bobby Korecky pitched 1 2/3 innings of perfect relief to earn his first big-league win as the Twins defeated the Rangers 7-6 in 12 innings. Korecky also got his first big-league hit after the Twins forfeited their DH.

The Reds’ Adam Dunn homered for the fifth straight game with a two-run shot in the third inning off the Dodgers’ Brad Penny as Cincinnati took a 4-2 lead before falling to Los Angeles in ninth.

THREE DOWN

The Royals’ bats were silent against the Red Sox, but their defense didn’t help either. Second baseman Mark Grudzielanek dropped a popup, which help ignite a five-run third inning.

The Phillies’ Nos. 4 and 5 hitters, Ryan Howard and Pat Burrell, went 0-for-8 as Tim Redding and three Nationals relievers blanked the Phillies 4-0. The Phillies stranded nine men in their third straight loss.

Padres left fielder Scott Hairston thought he had Ryan Ludwick’s deep fly ball, but it squirted out of his glove and over the wall for a two-run homer in the first inning of an 8-2 loss to the Cardinals.
