FBI offers reward for bank robbery info
The FBI offered a reward of up to $5,000 Tuesday for information leading to the arrest of a man suspected of robbing at least seven banks since 2006. The suspect, dubbed the “Brazen Bandit” because of the direct and potentially violent way he has committed his robberies, is accused most recently of robbing a River North TCF Bank branch on April 23, the FBI said. Anyone with information should call the FBI at 312-421-6700.
Stacy Peterson Web site forum shut down
Administrators for findstacypeterson.com have shut down the active forum on the Web site dedicated to the missing Bolingbrook mother, saying the site will now only be used for updates, searches and events. The Web site started shortly after Stacy Peterson disappeared Oct. 28 and once boasted at least 1,600 registered users from as far away as Australia who posted thousands of messages about her case. Site administrators felt the forum had run its course.
Body found in motel closet
Police were investigating the death of an unidentified woman whose body was found stuffed in a closet Tuesday in a North Side motel. The woman’s body was discovered about noon in a first-floor room at the Chicago Lodge, 920 W. Foster Ave., when the manager went to collect a payment from a man who had been staying there, according to Matthew Wyatt, a desk clerk at the motel.
