Rev. Patrick E. Murphy, O.S.A., age 60, entered eternal life May 14, 2008, Pastor of St. Mary’s Church in Gainesville, TX and former Principal of St. Rita of Cascia High School (1983-1989). Professed vows in the Augustinian Order Sept.
4, 1967 and ordained to the priesthood on March 20, 1976.
Former teacher at Mendel Catholic H.S. and Cascia Hall Preparatory School in Tulsa, OK. Beloved son of the late Thomas and Geraldine Murphy; loving brother of Bette (Robert) Mroz, the late Robert(Eileen) Murphy and Michele (Gregory)Kurkowski.
Fr. Murphy was also loved by many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and former students.
Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Mary Church in Gainesville, TX and burial at Calvary Cemetery in Tusla, OK. Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Rita of Cascia Chapel, 7740 S. Western Ave., Chicago, IL 60620 on Friday, May 23 at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Rita of Cascia High School or Augustinian Missions.
