THREE UP
Dan Uggla became the first Marlin to hit 12 homers in May, hitting one in an 8-6 win over the Giants in Game 1 of a doubleheader. He then won the nightcap with a bases-loaded, two-out single in the ninth.
Rookie Evan Longoria drove in the winning run with a double in the ninth as the Rays completed a three-game sweep of the Orioles with a 5-4 win. He had two homers and six RBIs in Saturday’s victory.
Jason Kubel’s two-out grand slam in the eighth on his 26th birthday propelled the Twins to a 6-1 victory, helping them rebound from a 19-3 loss Saturday to take two of three from the Tigers.
THREE DOWN
Indians right fielder Ben Francisco misplayed a simple single into a costly error in the 10th, enabling Jarrod Saltalamacchia, who had reached on a 10-pitch walk, to score from first for a 2-1 Texas win.
Guillermo Mota’s wild pitch in the bottom of the ninth brought home the winning run in the Nationals’ 7-6 win over the Brewers. Mota had walked Elijah Dukes, a .105 hitter, to lead off the inning.
Braves pitchers issued 11 walks in a 9-3 loss to the D’backs, six in 42/3 innings by starter Tom Glavine. “I was really happy with the way I threw the ball, just not happy with the results,” he said.
