Woman sought in fatal stabbing

Police are searching for a woman who they believe fatally stabbed an Iowa man in a Far South Side apartment Sunday. “The offender is a 28-year-old woman who is known but not in custody,” Chicago police Officer JoAnn Taylor said. Officers responding to a call in the 200 block of East 121st Place in West Pullman discovered the body of Shamon Dion Ellis, 28, of Iowa City.

Teen cited in accident

A 17-year-old girl has been cited in an accident that injured a 2-year-old boy on the South Side over the Memorial Day weekend, police said Monday. After the accident Sunday afternoon, Shaquita Finley was cited with striking a pedestrian, driving without a license or insurance, failure to reduce speed and failure to use due care for a pedestrian in a roadway, police said. The driver fled the crash, but Finley later turned herself in, police said.

Meet Tollway’s new mascot

The Illinois Toll Highway Authority is unveiling a cartoon mascot — Captain Tollway. The muscled cartoon character is being debuted with the agency’s “Know Before You Go” campaign. It’s designed to remind drivers to get information on construction locations and congestion before hitting the road. The state is giving away Captain Tollway coloring books and crayons to children at tollway oases.
