Summer band and orchestra will be offered Monday through Thursday, July 7 to 24 in Keller Junior High School, 820 Bode Rd., Schaumburg. Any student who has played at least one year in the District 54 instrumental music program is eligible to enroll. Registration is by mail only and due June 19. School District 54 is looking for community members to serve on its District Citizens’ Advisory Committee, the Advisory Council for District Initiatives or the Budget Review Committee. DCAC members meet monthly at 9 a.m. the second Thursday, September through May, and offer input to the school board on district topics and promote education and community involvement. ACDI is the main vehicle for strategic planning, and members meet monthly at 5 p.m. the third Monday as necessary, September to June. ACDI serves as an open channel of communication for new ideas and provides a framework for them to be realized. A commitment of three years is required. The Budget Review Committee, consisting of staff, school board and community members, meets at 6 p.m. Thursdays, January to June, and obtains input on the acquisition and allocation of resources. Woodstock High School’s building trades’ home, built, landscaped and sold by students, will be open for public viewing from 5 to 8 p.m. June 6 and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 7 at 600 Indigo Lane in the Country Ridge subdivision in Woodstock. Bids on the home will be accepted through 10 a.m. June 17 in the District 200 Administrative Services Center, 227 W. Judd St., Woodstock. Minimum bid is $255,000. The annual Jazz Showcase featuring instrumentalists and vocalists will be presented at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Elk Grove High School, 500 W. Elk Grove Blvd. Tickets cost $3 for adults, and $2 for senior citizens and students with ID.
ELGIN
The annual golf outing to benefit Einstein Academy will begin at noon June 5 at Whisper Creek Golf Club at Del Webb’s Sun City, 12940 Del Webb Blvd., Huntley. The shotgun start will be at 1 p.m. The cost is $190, or $175 per person per foursome, and includes golf, refreshments on the course, a box lunch, buffet-style dinner, one-hour open bar, and an after-dinner awards program.
