News from around the world of music

– Chicago rocker Liz Phair is celebrating the reissue of her landmark CD “Exile in Guyville” with a special performance at the Vic Theatre on June 24, the same day the rerelease hits stores. Phair will perform the entire album at the show. Tickets go on sale Saturday.

The rerelease of “Guyville,” which was out of print, will include three songs not on the original release: “Ant in Alaska,” “Say You” and an untitled instrumental with Phair on guitar. A DVD, “Guyville Redux,” also will come with the reissue.

– Another Chicago musicmaker, Smashing Pumpkins, has something new on the way. The band, in a post on its Web site, says it is releasing a new single in September. “This song will not be attached to ‘Zeitgeist’ and will be completely new material. No song title has been revealed at this time,” the post says.
