A Crystal Lake school bus driver was charged with a misdemeanor count of reckless conduct after a 6-year-old special-needs student was found on the bus after the driver parked the vehicle near her home, authorities said Tuesday.
The boy was still strapped into his seat nearly two hours after he was supposed to have been dropped off at West Elementary School, officials said.
Marci J. Zavala, 28, of Lake in the Hills, picked the boy up at 8:03 a.m. Tuesday, finished her route to the school on Briarwood Road about 8:40 a.m., and returned to her home about 9 a.m., Crystal Lake police said.
When officials at the school could not locate the boy, police found him on the bus at her home about 10:20 a.m. He was unharmed.
