Spin doctors
DJ duo Scooter and LaVelle dub their diverse style “bangin’ progressive turntablism.” Find out exactly what that means when they work four tables (yes, at the same time) at River North club Enclave. RSVP by 8 p.m. Thursday for a pre-party reception with hosted Ciroc cocktails (10-11 p.m.) and free admission before midnight. 11 p.m. $20. 220 W. Chicago Ave. 312-654-0234. RSVP: enclavechicago.com
Dark night
Celebrate closing night of “Le Premiere,” the debut exhibit at newbie art house Gallery Provocateur (2125 N. Rockwell St.), at Future Noir. Festivities include a runway show with fashions from Narcisse Designs inspired by the movie “Blade Runner,” and Veronika Kotlajic’s local line (Kotlajic is the gallery’s curator). Includes complimentary appetizers (8-9 p.m.) and $7 specialty martinis. 8 p.m. No cover. Cityscape Bar, 350 W. Mart Center Drive, Holiday Inn Mart Plaza, 15th Floor. 312-836-5000.
Rejection junction
If you can’t beat ’em or join ’em, show ’em up with your own fest. That’s the logic behind Snubfest, a four-day comedy showcase featuring groups who have been rejected from at least one comedy festival in 2007. Thursday’s program, “Second Chances,” gathers troupes who didn’t make the Chicago Improv Festival cut, including musical improv duo Tin Sandwich, long-form groups Strippers’ Picnic and 96D, plus Toronto-based WDWMKR (pronounced “widowmaker”). 8 p.m. $10. Through Sunday. Chemically Imbalanced Theater, 1420 W. Irving Park Rd. 773-865-7731. Tickets: snubfest.com
