Mark Ellis hit the fifth walk-off grand slam in A’s history, delivering with two outs in the 12th for a 7-3 victory over the Angels. It was the first walk-off slam for the A’s since Mark Mc- Gwire’s on June 30, 1995.
Ryan Howard’s third double of the game in the ninth inning drove in two runs and gave the Phillies a 6-3 win and series sweep over the Braves. Howard went 3-for-5 and drove in four but is still hitting .214.
Tony Clark hit the 11th pinch-hit homer of his career, this one a three-run shot, to give the Padres an 8-6 victory. It was San Diego’s first pinch homer of the season. Clark’s homer came off …

… Mets closer Billy Wagner, who entered the game with just one earned run allowed all season. It was Wagner’s third blown save in 16 attempts this season and closed out a 2-5 road trip.
Jeremy Sowers, replacing Jake Westbrook, gave up five runs and seven hits in four innings as the Indians lost 5-2 to the Tigers. The Indians need a win Monday to avoid their 5th straight series loss.
Aaron Harang dropped his fourth straight decision, giving up eight runs, seven earned, and 11 hits in 51/3 innings as the Marlins pounded the Reds 9-2. Harang fell to 2-9.
