Global government spending on weapons in 2007, a 6 percent increase from 2006, according to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute. The institute’s report said the U.S. spent the most ($547 billion) on weapons, followed by Britain ($59.7 billion) and China ($58.3 billion), which pushed past France into third place.
