STATE TROOPER KILLED: Edwardo Wong II, 37, of Ormond Beach, Fla., was charged Wednesday with murder after a North Carolina highway patrolman was killed during a traffic stop on Interstate Highway 40. Trooper David Shawn Blanton Jr., 24, was shot after he stopped a vehicle near Asheville late Tuesday.
HISTORIC TEARDOWN: School officials in Sarasota, Fla., voted Tuesday to tear down a historic building at Riverview High School, ending a two-year effort by local activists to save it. The building was designed by cubist architect Paul Rudolph.
