HIDDEN AGENDA REDEYE TAKES YOU OUTSIDE YOUR COMFORT ZONE
On the agenda: Blind wine tastings at ENO at the Intercontinental Chicago, 505 N. Michigan Ave., 312-321-8738; enowinerooms.com
Check it out if you … Want to show off your wine knowledge, think your guessing skills are good enough to get you some cheaper drinks, haven’t met a drinking game you didn’t like.
The deets: All day Sundays starting July 13, order a flight from ENO and ask for a blind tasting. The bottles of three white or red wines will be concealed, and it will be up to your nose and taste buds to try to guess what they are, said Wine Director Scott Harney. Drinkers will be given a score card for each glass including categories such as type or types of grapes used, an age range, the region or country the wine is from and the climate in which it was grown. A high enough score will score you a discounted bill of $5.05 from a full-price range of $15-$18. One of the restaurant’s wine experts will then break down what you should taste in the wines to help ID them.
The payoff: A fun, non-stuffy way to learn about wine.
