A’s reliever Brad Ziegler got six outs to set a big-league record with 27 scoreless innings to begin his career in a 6-5 win over the Rangers. The old mark was 25 innings by the Phillies’ George McQuillan (1907).
Justin Morneau hit an RBI double off Rafael Perez to break a ninth-inning tie, leading the Twins to a 4-2 victory over the Indians. Morneau was previously 1-for-8 against the Indians left-handed reliever.
The Orioles beat the Angels 5-2 to end their run of 15 straight losses on Sunday. “It’s done, it’s dead, put it to rest,” manager Dave Trembley said. Baltimore hadn’t won on Sunday since April 6 against Seattle.

The Cardinals’ Kyle Lohse suffered his first defeat since May 9, a span of 15 starts, in a 9-1 loss to the Mets. Lohse (12-3) gave up seven runs in five-plus innings, the first time in six starts he didn’t make it to the seventh.
Braves catcher Brian McCann left in the sixth inning after the Phillies’ Shane Victorino ran into him at the plate, knocking the ball free. McCann, who suffered a mild concussion, walked off the field on his own.
In a duel of former Cy Young Award winners, Barry Zito became the first 13-game loser in the majors, giving up six runs on six hits and five walks over five innings in a 7-2 loss to Randy Johnson and the D’backs.
