Ryan Doumit and Doug Mientkiewicz each had three hits and two RBIs as Pirates ended three-game losing streak and beat red-hot Colorado (9 of last 10) for first time in five games this season.
A day after saying he wouldn’t mind a trade, Red Sox OF Manny Ramirez had three RBIs, including his 20th homer, making him the eighth player in history to hit that many in 14 consecutive seasons.

Mike Mussina was rocked for eight hits and six runs in five innings in the Yankees’ 13-4 loss to Orioles. It was his shortest outing since May 24 and the most earned runs he’s allowed in a game this season.
Braves’ right-hander Charlie Morton didn’t make out of the fourth inning, allowing eight runs on seven hits with four walks in a 12-3 loss to the Cardinals. He’s 0-3 with a 10.69 ERA at home
Relievers Joe Smith and Scott Schoeneweis allowed five runs in bottom of eighth inning as Marlins rallied for 7-3 win. Smith gave up two hits and a run and Schoeneweis three runs on four hits.
