Woman found stabbed to death
A woman was stabbed to death in her Jefferson Park home Thursday evening, and police on Friday were calling the slaying a domestic incident. A suspect was in custody. Flordeliza Tagle, 59, was discovered by a family member about 7:50 p.m. in her home in the 5300 block of North Luna Avenue on the Northwest Side.
Law protects power users in extreme heat
A new Illinois law prevents utilities from shutting off power to nonpaying customers during extreme heat. Gov. Blagojevich signed the law Friday. It bars companies from turning off power for air conditioning when temperatures reach 95 degrees or higher. Utilities already were prevented from disconnecting service during cold winter months.
