Director’s pet

Shia LaBeouf’s boss Michael Bay has his back.

The “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” director insisted to “Access Hollywood” that LaBeouf was not driving under the influence when his truck collided with another car last weekend.

“You’re gonna see — that’s gonna go away,” Bay said. “That’s fresh news. … He was not drunk. He was drinking hours and hours before.”

What won’t go away, at least not immediately, is the injury LaBeouf sustained. But Bay said it might be written into the “Transformers” script.

“I spoke to him … in the hospital,” Bay said. “His two fingers are pretty mashed, but we’re figuring out a way to shoot around it, kind of write it in the story.”

Bernie Mac

hospitalized

It was no laughing matter Friday when funnyman Bernie Mac was hospitalized in Chicago for pneumonia.

King of comedy Mac, a Chicago native, was said to be OK and expected to be released soon after he was admitted, his rep told people.com.

“Mr. Mac is responding well to treatment and will be released soon,” the rep said in a statement. “He asked that his privacy and that of his family is respected while he gets well.”

Stunned man

Bow Wow’s all grown up.

The rapper says his upcoming appearance on “Entourage” will get fans talking — about his sex scene.

“The ladies are going to go crazy when they see Bow Wow’s first sex scene,” he tells mtv.com. “It was normal, but I know when I look back at it, I’m gonna be like, ‘Damn! Look at this. This is crazy!’ I stun myself sometimes, I can’t even front.”

There’s just not a whole lot we can add to that.

People power

Attention baby lovers and gossip lovers: People magazine scored the U.S. rights to photos of the Jolie-Pitt twins.

Try to keep your diapers clean.

The magazine will feature Vivienne Marcheline and Knox Leon in its Monday issue (available Sunday), People spokeswoman Nancy Valentino said Friday.

There’s no official word on how much People paid for the pics.

Meanwhile, People didn’t get the bump it might’ve expected from its recent issue featuring Barack Obama and his family on the cover. A new estimate put the number of copies sold at about 50,000 fewer than People’s 1.45 million average, the New York Post reported.
