*TENNIS: Rafael Nadal got run around the court and bounced from the Cincinnati Masters one step short of another title match. Novak Djokovic reached the final with a 6-1, 7-5 victory Saturday. Still, Nadal has accumulated enough points to overtake Roger Federer as world No. 1 when new rankings come out Aug. 11. The third-seeded Djokovic will play Andy Murray for the title. Murray reached his first Masters series final by beating Ivo Karlovic 6-4, 6-4. … Jelena Jankovic has assured herself of moving up to the No. 1 women’s ranking. According to the ranking projections, Jankovic will have 3,620 points to Ana Ivanovic’s 3,612 on Aug. 11.

*HARNESS RACING: Deweycheatumnhowe was all business Saturday in winning the $1.5 million Hambletonian. The colt became the first unbeaten winner of the 3-year-old trotting classic. The 2-5 favorite extended his winning streak to 15 with a half-length victory over Crazed. Make It Happen finished third in the field of 10. Deweycheatumnhowe completed the mile in 1:52 on a good track for his 11th victory at the Meadowlands Racetrack in East Rutherford, N.J.

*COLLEGES: A grand jury won’t bring criminal charges against three Syracuse basketball players accused of sexually assaulting a student, but the school said it would go ahead with its own disciplinary process. A Syracuse spokesman said the decision clears the way for university hearings on whether the code of student conduct was violated in the case involving Jonny Flynn, Antonio Jardine and Rick Jackson.

*HIGH SCHOOLS: Trinity’s Monica Albano, a 5-foot-8-inch guard who led the Blazers in scoring at 19 points as a junior last season, made an oral commitment to Loyola. Albano was a special-mention selection in the Tribune’s all-state basketball team.
