Kevin Millar hit two home runs, a two-run shot in the third inning and a solo blast in the fifth, as the Orioles routed the Rangers 9-1. It was the third time this year Millar had multiple homers in a game.

Mets left-hander Oliver Perez threw seven innings of two-hit ball, dominating the Marlins in a 3-0 victory. Perez struck out eight and walked three as he improved to 3-0 against Florida this season.

Brad Ziegler tied the A’s record with 37 consecutive scoreless innings, earning his first big-league save with two hitless frames as Oakland snapped its 10-game skid with a 4-2 victory over the Tigers.

Alex Rios went 0-for-5 with three strikeouts and stranded four runners on base as the Blue Jays fell to the Indians 5-2. Rios struck out looking against Jensen Lewis to end the game.

The Nationals’ Collin Balester had a tough draw with the Brewers’ CC Sabathia, but Balester didn’t help his cause, allowing four runs on five hits in five innings with two wild pitches and an error in a 5-0 loss.

Reds closer Francisco Cordero allowed four runs on three hits, including Hunter Pence’s two-run homer, in the 10th inning of a 9-5 loss to the Astros. Cordero’s ERA swelled from 3.28 to 3.93.
