WRESTLING

Harvey’s Dantzler unable to walk his talk

Two days after an extremely colorful interview in which he promised to “throw somebody on his head and pick up my gold medal,” Harvey native T.C. Dantzler lost his opening-round match Wednesday in the 163-pound Greco-Roman wrestling competition.

Dantzler, 37, qualified for the Olympic team after 12 years of trying and was the second-oldest wrestler in U.S. history. He fell 5-1, 2-2, 3-0 to Hungary’s Peter Bacsi.

“Give him credit,” Dantzler said. “He was just better than me. I wasn’t quite right out there for some reason.

“But it’s been a great experience here. Hats off to the USOC for giving us everything we needed to compete.”
