Brandon Webb struck out six in eight innings and won his ML-high 18th game as the Diamondbacks beat the Astros 12-2. Webb allowed four hits to win his seventh straight decision.

Cliff Lee became the American League’s first 17-game winner in the Indians’ 3-2 win over the Angels. Lee is on pace to be the Indians’ first 20-game winner since Gaylord Perry in 1974.

Randy Winn hit his 100th career home run among his four hits and drove in a pair of runs in the Giants’ 5-1 win over the Braves. Winn’s homer was his sixth of the year and came off Will Ohman.

Carlos Silva lost his AL-leading 14th game in the Mariners’ 9-2 loss to the Twins. Silva tied his career high with nine runs allowed and has one win in his last 21 starts. Since June 28 his ERA is 8.03.

Wandy Rodriguez gave up four runs and matched a career high with six walks in 2 1/3 shaky innings in the Astros’ loss to Arizona. The left-hander had won four of his previous five decisions.

Brandon Inge continues to struggle with the bat in a dismal Tigers season. Inge went 0-for-4 in an 11-2 loss to the Orioles, dropping his average in August to .174. The Tigers also made three errors.
