The Celtics have signed forward Darius Miles, who missed the last two NBA seasons because of knee injuries.
General manager Danny Ainge said Friday that Miles had worked out twice for the team before signing. Miles played for Portland in the 2005-06 season but was waived after it was determined his right knee was damaged enough to qualify as a career-ending injury.
Miles was selected third overall out of East St. Louis High School by the Clippers in the 2000 draft.
The Celtics also have signed second-round draft pick Bill Walker of Kansas State.
*The Hornets signed guard Devin Brown, formerly of the Cavaliers. He played with New Orleans two seasons ago. Terms were not disclosed. … The Spurs re-signed guard Michael Finley, 35. Terms weren’t released. … The Nuggets re-signed restricted free agent J.R. Smith to a multiyear contract.
*A restraining order has been issued against Suns center Shaquille O’Neal, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
An Atlanta judge granted the order after reviewing Alexis Miller’s allegations that O’Neal stalked her, threatened her with bodily harm and harassed her with phone calls in which he breathed heavily before hanging up.
Miller, a 23-year-old hip-hop artist known as MaryJane, also claimed that O’Neal said he would pay artists $50,000 each not to perform with her.
