TERROR SUSPECTS: Three terrorism suspects arrested in northern England on Aug. 14 were detained in connection with an Internet threat against Prime Minister Gordon Brown, British media reported.
PERU LAND LAWS: Peru’s Congress voted to repeal two laws facilitating the sale of Indian lands that had generated protests by dozens of tribes in the Amazon rain forest. Lawmakers voted 66-29 in favor of repealing the laws, which were passed by presidential decree earlier this year to promote private investment in tribal lands.
