6 hurt when truck hits house

Six people were hurt Monday night when the cab section of a semitrailer truck slammed into a house on the Southeast Side, Chicago police said Tuesday. The accident occurred near East 83rd Street and South Yates Avenue, officials said. The cab ran a stop light, struck an SUV and crashed into the house, police said. The driver of the cab, a 34-year-old man, was taken into custody after a shotgun was found in his possession, police said.

Chicago Lawn shooting kills 1

A man was killed and another seriously wounded in a shooting Monday in the 7000 block of South Oakley Avenue in Chicago Lawn. A witness said he was in the car with at least one of the victims prior to the shooting, Chicago police said. The witness stepped out of the vehicle and later heard gunfire, said Officer Amina Greer. Upon his return to the vehicle, he found both victims bleeding either inside or outside of it, she said.

Logan Square man accused of throwing kitten off porch

A Logan Square man was charged with aggravated animal cruelty Tuesday after he flung a 2-month-old calico kitten from a second-story porch because he said it had scratched him, authorities said. The kitten suffered a broken pelvis. Wayne Evans, 49, of the 3700 block of West Dickens Avenue was arrested Monday after police responding to a call of animal abuse found the kitten lying in the street, police said.

Man charged in e-mail case

A Near West Side man has been charged with sending threatening e-mails, and the FBI alleges that in some of those messages, the man threatened to hurt or kill two federal officials. Vincenzio Di Giorgi, 30, of the 200 block of South Morgan Street was arrested at his home on Friday and charged with one count of making and sending an interstate threatening communication, according to the FBI. On Saturday morning, Di Giorgi was ordered held without bond.
