Lincoln’s journey: Commemorating the 200th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln’s birth (Feb. 12, 1809), the people of Spencer County, Ind., where he lived from age 7 to 21 will re-enact his voyage from Rockport, Ind., to New Orleans aboard a flatboat. The voyage sets off Sept. 9 in Rockport, marking a similar re-creation in 1958. The 60-foot boat will take 28 days to travel the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers, stopping at more than 20 cities and towns in eight states. Illinois stops include Elizabethtown and Cave in Rock on Sept. 13; Metropolis Sept. 16; and Cairo Sept. 17. Visit LincolnsJourney.org.

AMC Nationals: The American Motors Drivers & Racers Association sponsors the 30th annual AMC Nationals Sept. 12-13 at the Cordova Dragway, Cordova, Ill. The event will include drag racing, a car show and swap meet from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. both days. Fees range from $3 to $55. B-17 fl ights: The Warbird Squadron 4 of the Experimental Aircraft Association hosts Aluminum Overcast, the EAA’s B-17 Bomber, at DuPage Airport Sept. 12 through 14. Thirty-minute rides are available starting at 9:30 am each day, with at least six scheduled. Fees are $385 for Experimental Aircraft Association members and $425 for non-members. Famous Puzzler Rallye: The 10th annual Famous Puzzler Rallye kicks off with registration at 6 p.m. Sept. 13 at Woodfield Mall parking lot in Schaumburg near light pole B-2. A beginner’s school starts at 6:45 and drivers meeting at 7 with the first car out at 7:15. Cost is $25 in advance and $30 at the gate with proceeds to benefit UPS for DownS, a non-profi t that assists families dealing with Down Syndrome. Visit www.upsfordowns.org.

Museum showcase: Illinois Railway Museum in Union holds its Museum Showcase Weekend Sept. 13 and 14, featuring some of its less frequently run equipment. Drag Strip Days: Oswego hosts its 3rd annual Drag Strip Days Sept. 13 and 14 on Main Street in downtown Oswego. Cars and dragsters that raced from 1955- 1979 in Oswego will be featured. Registration, from noon to 3 p.m. Sept. 13 and 7 to 9 a.m. Sept. 14 at Oswego High School, costs $10. The car show, from 3 to 8 p.m. Sept. 13 and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 14, is free. KJP shows: In conjunction with the 8th annual Heritagefest West Dundee, KJP Car, Truck and Motorcycle Shows will hold shows Sept. 13 and 14 at Main Street and 2nd Avenue in the suburb. Racetrack anniversary: Meadowdale International Raceways hosts its 50th Anniversary Reunion and Festival Sept. 13 and 14 in Raceway Woods, near Ill. 31 and Huntley Road, Carpentersville. Backlot cruise: Vehicles from 1983 and older are invited to the free Cruise the Backlot Classic Car Show Sept. 17 in Skokie.
