Lincoln’s journey: Commemorating the 200th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln’s birth (Feb. 12, 1809), the people of Spencer County, Ind., where he lived from age 7 to 21 will re-enact his voyage from Rockport, Ind., to New Orleans aboard a flatboat. The voyage sets off Sept. 9 in Rockport, marking a similar re-creation in 1958. The 60-foot boat will take 28 days to travel the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers, stopping at more than 20 cities and towns in eight states. AMC Nationals: The American Motors Drivers & Racers Association sponsors the 30th annual AMC Nationals Sept. 12-13 at the Cordova Dragway, Cordova, Ill. The event will include drag racing, a car show and swap meet from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. both days. Fees range from $3 to $55. B-17 fl ights: The Warbird Squadron 4 of the Experimental Aircraft Association hosts Aluminum Overcast, the EAA’s B-17 Bomber, at DuPage Airport Sept. 12 through 14.
