Mike Cameron singled in the go-ahead run in the eighth as the Brewers rallied to beat the Reds 4-3, avoiding a sweep. Cameron also drew a leadoff walk in the seventh and scored on an error.

Miguel Tejada’s grand slam broke open a close game in the sixth and helped the Astros beat the Pirates 7-4 to move into a tie with the Phillies four games behind Milwaukee in the NL wild-card race.

One day after beating the Diamondbacks on a walk-off hit, Eugenio Velez did it again, this time with a two-out, two-run triple off Arizona’s Brandon Lyon to lift the Giants to a 4-3 win. …

… As the plummeting Diamondbacks suffered their sixth straight loss — and 10th consecutive on the road — to fall three games behind the Dodgers in the NL West, which they once seemed a lock to win.

Reliever J.C. Romero and catcher Chris Coste appeared irritated with each other — and Jimmy Rollins with Shane Victorino — in Florida’s 3-run ninth as Phillies lost 7-3. Next up: the Brewers.

Curtis Granderson’s struggles continue. The Tigers outfielder was easily doubled off first to end the game after Magglio Ordonez’s flyout to deep center in the Tigers 5-2 loss to the Athletics.
