THREE UP
Manny Ramirez went 3-for-4 with two RBIs as L.A. won its 13th of 15. He has 14 homers, 43 RBIs in 42 games — the best by a player in a late-season trade since the Cubs’ Hank Sauer (15-47) in 1949.
Kyle Davies matched a career high with eight strikeouts in eight innings, lifting the Royals to a 3-0 victory over Seattle. He had scuffled over the last month, going 1-5 with a 5.34 ERA in six starts.
John Lannan held New York to one run on one hit over seven innings. It was quite a contrast to the lefty’s previous outing, also against the Mets: He gave up five runs and eight hits in three innings.
THREE DOWN
New York’s Nos. 3-5 hitters — David Wright, Carlos Beltran and Carlos Delgado — went 0-for-11 with four strikeouts in the Mets’ third loss in four games. Their NL East lead is down to a half-game.
Rays All-Star Scott Kazmir threw nine straight balls to start the game and gave up a career-high four homers to Boston in three-plus innings, his shortest outing of the year.
Rockies right-hander Greg
Reynolds, making his first start since being sent down to Triple A on July 5, gave up seven runs and nine hits in two-plus innings of an 11-5 loss to the Padres. .
