It’s Carrie Bradshaw as you’ve never seen her before.
“Sex and the City” author Candace Bushnell is writing a pair of teen novels about her HBO heroine’s high-school years, The Associated Press reports.
Titled “The Carrie Diaries,” the books will “take readers back to Carrie Bradshaw’s formative years in high school, giving an inside look at Carrie’s friendships, romances and how she realized her dream of becoming a writer,” HarperCollins announced this week.
But will fans who latched on to the “Sex and the City” character as an adult take to the teen version of Bradshaw? Perhaps a new generation of style-conscious devotees will rise to the occasion and carry on her Manolo Blahnik mantras.
Bushnell gave fans an idea about what young Carrie might be like when she released a statement — a very “SATC”-sounding statement.
“Carrie in high school did not follow the crowd — she led it. It was there that she began observing and commenting on the social scene.”
At any rate, the first book isn’t due out until 2010, so RedEye can only imagine what high-school Bradshaw and her gal pals would have been like back in the day. Here’s our imagining of the characters’ high-school stats.
