TomKat’s big night
Katie Holmes made her Broadway debut Thursday night, but Tom Cruise might have been the star of the show.
Moments before the curtain went up on the first preview performance of “All My Sons,” Cruise entered the theater and the crowd gasped audibly, the AP reports. He shook some hands, then hugged his “Rain Man” co-star Dustin Hoffman, which, somehow, drew applause.
So what about Holmes’ performance? She called it “fine.” Cruise called it “extraordinary.”
The audience apparently agreed with Cruise. Holmes received a standing ovation.
HOT DATE
Dec. 9: The date 50 Cent’s new album, “Before I Self Destruct,” will be released, just a week ahead of Kanye West’s “808’s and Heartbreak” on Dec. 16, according to billboard.com. Looks like 50 Cent is getting a head start on a showdown sequel. Last year, West’s “Graduation” outsold 50 Cent’s “Curtis” in the two albums’ debut week.
‘Sex’ sequel not a done deal yet
Sarah Jessica Parker says a “Sex and the City” movie sequel will only happen if the writers can do it justice.
“It’s all about the story,” Parker told usmagazine.com at Thursday’s DVD release party in New York. “If we can’t tell a story that’s really worthy of an audience, then we won’t do it.”
She said she and writer Michael Patrick King will “have that conversation sooner rather than later,” and added: “We’ve been in people’s good graces for a long time, and we take that very seriously.”
Still, her co-stars have ideas for how a sequel might unfold.
Cynthia Nixon, who plays Miranda Hobbes, says she “would love to see [Miranda] and Carrie and Charlotte and Samantha all go off on some wild mad cap adventure somewhere.”
You gonna eat that?
Paris Hilton’s dogs may be many things, but they’re not coyote food.
A rep for the heiress shot down Web rumors that Hilton had been distraught because two of her dogs were eaten by a coyote.
“They were at Paris’ house Wednesday in her recording studio, and all the dogs were playing and looked as healthy and happy as can be,” the rep told People magazine. “Paris even had a doggie mansion built for them and it is very [secure].”
LiLo’s fashion sense
When the next season of “Project Runway” debuts on Lifetime in January, Lindsay Lohan might be in the guest judge’s chair, TV tabloid “Access Hollywood” is reporting.
Lohan reportedly filmed next season’s premiere episode Thursday, “Access” said. Seal, husband of “Project Runway” host Heidi Klum, told usmagazine.com Klum was in the first day of filming the show Thursday night.
