Under a white-hot sun, the fans and the bands knew less was more when it came to clothes at this year’s Lollapalooza. But the scene was hardly lacking in fashion statements. Seventies-inspired headbands and track shorts, day-glow fanny packs and a rainbow of hair colors kept the mostly shirtless, skinny-jeaned hipsters looking and staying cool.
Designer Peggy Noland turned up the volume with her brightly colored print frocks, worn by herself and CSS’s Lovefoxxx. Lolita-style heart-shaped frames not only glammed up The Go! Team’s Ninja, but several rocker boys as well. Even this season’s retro cult fave, Pink Floyd, made an appearance — by way of branding everything from T-shirts to boxer shorts.
