Cop pleads not guilty in fatal crash

Chicago Police Officer John Ardelean on Wednesday pleaded not guilty to charges of reckless homicide and aggravated DUI in a car crash that killed two Cicero men. The case against Ardelean marks the second time that he has been charged in connection with the deaths. Ardelean was initially charged with a misdemeanor count of drunken driving after his SUV rammed into a car carrying Miguel Flores, 22, and Erick Lagunas, 21, at Damen and Oakdale Avenues on Nov. 22.

‘Motorcycle Bandit’ sought in 2 robberies

The FBI is seeking a man who used a racing-style motocross motorcycle to make escapes from two holdups in the southwest suburbs. “The Motorcycle Bandit” fled on a Suzuki dirt bike after both holdups in Tinley Park, the most recent on Sept. 15, the FBI said. The robber is described as a stocky white male who wore a distinctive racing jacket emblazoned with a “9” on the front in the first holdup June 28.

Woman, man shot in Humboldt Park

Two people were shot Tuesday morning in Humboldt Park. The shooting happened a little after 6 a.m. in the 2900 block of West Augusta Boulevard, police said. The victims, one male and one female, suffered injuries not considered life-threatening, Chicago Police Officer Dan O’Brien said.

Man stabbed at Loop CTA station

A 38-year-old man was critically injured in a stabbing at a Red Line subway station in the Loop on Wednesday, Chicago police said. The attack occurred around 2:30 a.m. at the Jackson station, 230 S. State St., said Chicago Police Officer Daniel O’Brien. The attacker, described as in his 40s, about 5 foot 9, 150 pounds and wearingdark clothing, ranup the stairs and was being sought.
