Oh, Ocho Cinco. You may be a failure as a fantasy player, but you never fail to entertain.
Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Ocho Cinco (formerly Johnson) told reporters after Wednesday’s practice, “To show my respect for Dallas and its owner Jerry Jones, I’m going to score, and I’m going to kiss the star” at the 50-yard line, according to ben gals.com. “I’m not being rude about anything. I’m going to kiss the star. I’m excited about going to Dallas.”
The site adds that the league notified him by e-mail that such a TD celebration would be penalized as taunting, but details, details.
And is Ocho Cinco trying to schmooze his way into a future Dallas gig? Wouldn’t be surprised. Michael Irvin, Terrell Owens, Mr. Cinco — what is it about the Cowboys that lures self-absorbed boastful receivers like flies to garbage?
In any event, it’s doesn’t much matter what stunt he’s planning because he’s not likely to see the end zone anyway. Eleven catches and one touchdown in four games — let’s just say the Cowboys defensive backs aren’t shaking.
It makes me ashamed that I named my Facebook fantasy team “Los Ocho Cincos” after the surefire future Hall of Famer (in his own mind) landed on my roster. In my defense, it was an autodraft.
Speaking of Facebook’s fantasy service, I’m not a fan, even if it’s free. Maybe I clicked the wrong button during Da League’s setup, but the league I got has no depth — bare-bones information on players and no scouting reports — and it’s somewhat clunky. You have to click a link on your team to change your roster, the frustrating free-agent page keeps including drafted players whenever you try to filter for different player positions, and “Commissioner Controls” controls very little.
Anyway, let’s move on to some Week 5 picks.
START
Ben Roethlisberger (above)
QB, Steelers at Jaguars
Run game is hurting from injuries. Good thing Jags secondary is too.
Bernard Berrian/Sidney Rice
WRs, Vikings at Saints
This matchup has high-scoring game written all over it.
DeSean Jackson
WR, Eagles vs. Redskins
Just speedy enough to get past otherwise stingy secondary.
Anthony Fasano
TE, Dolphins vs. Chargers
Vulnerable San Diego D focused on Ronnie Brown.
BENCH
Matt Schaub (above)
QB, Texans vs. Colts
Couldn’t believe it, but Indy hasn’t given up a passing TD.
Chris Johnson/LenDale White
RBs, Titans vs. Ravens
Ravens (69.7 rushing ypg), Bucs are the only teams with no rush TDs.
Deion Branch
WR, Seahawks at Giants
He hasn’t played since January (knee). How about you wait a week.
Santana Moss
WR, Redskins at Eagles
Dallas game aside, don’t like a road matchup against an NFC East rival.
