I have an unnatural obsession with Baltimore Ravens running back Le’Ron McClain. It’s unnatural because 1) He’s a backup running back, not usually the best formula for fantasy success and 2) He’s part of the Ravens offense, also not the best formula for fantasy success.

But he keeps scoring.

Even against Tennessee’s fifth-ranked defense, which allowed fewer points than even the Ravens’ miserly unit.

Even sharing touches with Willis McGahee, a Ferrari to his Ford pickup, though McGahee’s not the most durable.

McClain’s not glamorous like an Adrian Peterson or even the most well-known time-sharing back: That would be Felix Jones of Dallas, or Jonathan Stewart of Carolina. But that’s the point. You need guys you can grab off the wire who only a week or two ago had no business being on a fantasy roster, but suddenly can put up points against your opponent.

That’s a back-breaker.

Then I just like McClain’s style. He’s built like a bowling ball, which I’m sure helps with those carries around the goal line.

So this is my poster as an homage to Le’Ron McClain, who’s as hard scrabble as another underdog named McClain.

Isaac Bruce WR, 49ers

He caught two touchdowns from J.T. O’Sullivan on Sunday and has four for the season. Just when you thought his career was over …
