Every other Sunday, 25-year-old Cindy Perez travels from her home in West Chicago to Lee Spa Nails in Wheaton to visit her nail artist of eight years — the salon’s owner, Vanessa Tran. Perez has a manicure and pedicure on these every-two-week visits, and drops by every other month for a new set of acrylic nails. Perez and Tran have an understanding unique to most client-technician relationships. “She’s been coming so long, I know what she wants,” Tran says. “[With most customers] I do the way they want, not what I want.” Perez said she completely trusts Tran’s meticulous and beautiful artistry. On this day, the shade on Perez’s acrylics is “A Rose at Dawn, Broke by Dawn.”
