Records:
Bartlett 12-0, Schaumburg 7-5
Summary:
After Schaumburg scored 28 straight second-half points to tie the game at 35-35, Bartlett’s Dan Karys kicked a 25-yard field goal with 7.4 seconds left for the win. The Saxons were down 35-7 with just more than a minute to play in the third when quarterback Anthony Iannotti had a part in four straight touchdowns, including a 15-yard pass to Diante Hackler and 25- and 10-yard passes to Josh Spandiary, the second of which tied the game with 1:26 remaining. That was enough time for Bartlett. A 45-yard pass from quarterback Josh Hasenberg to Alex VanNess fueled the Hawks’ last-minute drive to set up the winning field goal. Bartlett had pulled ahead 28-0 at halftime behind Hasenberg’s three touchdown runs (1, 1 and 25 yards) and a 32-yard scoring pass to VanNess. Schaumburg didn’t score until the first play of the second half, when Hackler returned a kickoff 81 yards for a touchdown to set off the second-half scoring spree.
