Ashlee Simpson-Wentz and Pete Wentz have welcomed a son into the world.
Bronx Mowgli, weighing in at 7 pounds, 11 ounces, was born Thursday night in New York. Mother and child — and father — are all healthy and well, according to a publicist.
This is the first child for singer Simpson-Wentz, 24, and Wentz, 29, a member of the band Fall Out Boy.
The proud parents haven’t explained where little Bronx’s name comes from. But his middle name does follow a pattern.
“Mowgli” is the name of the lead character in “The Jungle Book.” Earlier this month Simpson-Wentz had a Winnie the Pooh-themed baby shower (apparently no one gave her a book of baby names). And their May wedding was patterned on “Alice in Wonderland,” down to the Mad Hatter cake.
So if baby Bronx ever complains about his name, Mom and Pop can remind him that he just as easily could have been Pluto.
Or they could point to singer Gwen Stefani and musician Gavin Rossdale, who recently named their son Zuma Nesta Rock Rossdale. That kid would be glad to be Pluto.
