Friday, it was the small schools’ turn in Champaign. But there were certainly some big performances.

In Class 2A, Immaculate Conception completed a stunning six-game run to go from a 4-4 team to state champions. The Knights also made a little history when kicker Olivia Vatch became the first female in IHSA history to score a point in a title game with her PAT for a 30-3 lead. In Class 4A, coach Don Beebe’s Aurora Christian team put up a fight against unbeaten Bloomington Central Catholic but fell short.
