Britney Spears slipped into Madonna mode Thursday at a German awards show, her first live performance since her disastrous turn at the 2007 Video Music Awards.
Looking a lot like the Material Girl, Spears donned black leather boots, fishnet stockings, a sheer blouse and a top hat for “Womanizer” at the Bambi Awards. She seemed to be either lip-syncing or warbling with the assistance of a loud backing track.
“Britney looked a little nervous,” an onlooker told People.com. “[But] she had the audience excited.”
After the elaborate routine, designer Karl Lagerfeld presented Spears with the Pop International Bambi.
“I admire you … not just for your art, but for your energy,” he told her. “[You are] coming back not only as a phoenix, but as a bird of paradise.”
