Offense
Mark Clayton of the Ravens not only was the best wide receiver in football Sunday, he also was the best quarterback. Clayton had five catches for 164 yards, including a one-handed 70-yard touchdown reception and a diving 45-yard reception in a 34-3 win over the Bengals. What’s more, Clayton had a 158.3 passer rating, the result of his only pass going for a 32-yard touchdown to Derrick Mason. Said coach John Harbaugh: “He’ll be lobbying for more of those.”
Defense
The Colts’ Robert Mathis also could have been nominated on offense, because he scored the only touchdown in the Colts’ 10-6 victory in Cleveland. The defensive end had two sacks and a fumble recovery that he returned 37 yards for a score.
Special teams
Maurice Leggett recovered a fumbled snap on a fake field-goal attempt and returned it 67 yards for a touchdown in the Chiefs’ 20-13 victory over the Raiders.
