A Lake County judge denied defense attorneys’ requests Tuesday to set bail for Jerry Hobbs, who is accused of killing two children, including his daughter, in 2005. Hobbs has been held without bail since his arrest three years ago.
Hobbs’ attorneys asked last month for bail to be set because of DNA evidence they said pointed to a suspect other than Hobbs. Semen found on Laura Hobbs’ body and clothing does not match Hobbs.
Judge Fred Foreman said the DNA evidence was not enough to persuade him to set bail “at this point.”
Laura’s friend Krystal Tobias, 9, was also stabbed to death.
