Waukegan is led by 6-7 junior Jereme Richmond, who has orally committed to Illinois, and Fairfield University signee Colin Nickerson. Glenbrook North junior Alex Dragisevich will try to pick up some of the slack for senior Tyler Ponticelli, who underwent back surgery Wednesday.

No. 2 North Lawndale vs. No. 7 Mt. Carmel: 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Attack Athletics, 2641 W. Harrison, Chicago. North Lawndale will match guards Terry Johnson, John Taylor and Zilijan Jones against Mt. Carmel’s Tracy Abrams and Malcolm Hill-Bey. Lawndale seems to have an advantage inside with 6-5 second-team All-Stater Jonathan Mills. Mt. Carmel will need a big game down low from 6-8 Delino Dear. Preceding this game in the Public League Shootout is No. 6 Curie vs. No. 8 Seton.

No. 1 Young vs. Homewood-Flossmoor: 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Chicago State, 9501 S. King Dr. Day 2 of the Public League Shootout features the Dolphins and their in-state debut after playing in the Marshall County (Benton, Ky.) Hoopfest on Saturday. Preceding this showdown is No. 10 Thornton and No. 11 Simeon. Young is led by four Division I recruits: Iowa State signee Chris Colvin, Lamar signee Stanford Brown and juniors Anthony Johnson (committed to Purdue) and Ahmad Starks (Oregon State).

Girls
No. 3 Montini at Freeport: 7:30 p.m. Saturday at 701 W. Moseley St., Freeport. This rematch of a Class 3A semifinal, which Freeport won, pairs two of the state’s best. Each team lost just one starter to graduation. The Broncos (5-1, lone loss to No. 2 Young) and point guard Whitney Holloway have been winning without injured All-State center Michala Johnson. The Pretzels, led by Suporia Dickens and Katie Norman, are 7-0.

No. 6 Marian Catholic at Maine West tournament: Friday and
Saturday at 1755 S. Wolf Rd., Des Plaines. Marian Catholic (4-1), which won its first three games of the tournament last week, expects star Kaila Turner to return after missing two games with an ear infection. The Spartans face Hersey (4-1) at 5:30 p.m. Friday before taking on Stevenson (4-1) at 2:30 p.m. Saturday. Evanston, Maine West, Mother McAuley, St. Ignatius and Washington also play two games each.
