The newest jewel in Princess Cruises’ crown is the recently christened 3,070-passenger Ruby Princess. Innovative amenities on the ship include an English-style pub lunch and a kids’ Wizards Academy that mixes magic with science, as well as the Navigation@Sea and Astronomy@Sea enrichment programs.
The Ruby Princess also panders to the whims of nosy passengers with the “Ultimate Ship Tour,” a behind-the-scenes look at non-public areas such as the engine control room, bridge, laundry and galley.
Departing on Saturdays through April 11, the Ruby Princess makes weeklong western Caribbean voyages round-trip from Ft. Lauderdale, with fares generally starting at $762 for an inside stateroom and $862 for ocean-view accommodations. Prices include the fuel supplement but exclude shore excursions, gratuities and $70 in government fees and taxes. Airfare between home and Ft. Lauderdale is also additional.
From May through September, the Ruby Princess sails the Mediterranean, returning to the Caribbean in October. (800-PRINCESS; www.princess.com, under Quick Links click on Ships)
