Offense

Kyle Orton regained his rhythm, throwing touchdown passes to tight ends Desmond Clark and Greg Olsen. Matt Forte had his lowest per-carry average (3.3) since Week 7, but he managed a 26-yard sprint. The Bears were 5-for-15 on third down and had some key drops by receivers. Devin Hester caught five passes for 80 yards.

Defense

Nickel back Danieal Manning’s 42-yard interception return set up the Bears’ first score. The defense forced six three-and-outs, held the Jaguars to 5 of 17 on third down and sacked David Garrard three times. There were a few lapses in the second half that allowed Garrard to establish a rhythm.

Special teams

Brad Maynard had his best performance of the season, averaging 44.2 net yards on punts, resulting in poor field position for the Jaguars. Manning was explosive on kickoff returns, including a 51-yarder. Hester set up a Robbie Gould field goal with a 22-yard punt return.

Coaching

Lovie Smith’s challenge of Manning’s fumble after a first-quarter interception gave the Bears the ball instead of a touchback for the Jaguars. With the receivers struggling, offensive coordinator Ron Turner called plays for the tight ends, who produced. Resting Tommie Harris with the quick turnaround for Thursday’s game made sense.
